DAY TWENTY EIGHT of 50-Day Spiritual Journey

Prayer is crucial to our growth in being conformed to the image of Christ. It is very helpful to read the actual prayers in the Bible to find out how we are supposed to pray.

Read Ephesians 3:14-21

In this prayer of Paul, he prays for three very specific things.

First of all, he prays that we would be strengthened with power through the Holy Spirit.

How many times do we need strength to face temptations or to handle the situations we are in?

Secondly, he prays that he would experience the wonderful riches of God’s love for us in Christ.

Are you praying that you would experience more of the love of Jesus in the gospel? Often times we focus on how much love we have for Jesus which is good, but we should also focus on how much He loves us.

Thirdly, Paul prays for God’s glory to be at work in the church to do amazing things that we can’t even imagine.

Do you truly believe that God can do more than we can ask or imagine according to His power and glory at work within us?

What are you asking God to do that only God can do so that when He does it He alone gets all the glory?

Are you praying for Emmanuel to experience a gospel-centered culture?

Are you praying for the future of our church?

Are you praying about connecting into the life of the church through a disciple-making small group?

Are you praying that everyone connected to Emmanuel would be conformed to the image of Christ?

Are you praying for God to so move in your life that you would be shaken up into faithful obedience and a passionate pursuit of Him?

Spend some time in prayer asking God to do those very things!

Our Father in Heaven,

I truly believe that You can do more than all we can ask or imagine! You are powerful and glorious! I need your strength and I want to know more of your love and experience more of Your glory! I am praying for our church that You would create a gospel-centered culture. I am praying that everyone connected to Emmanuel would be conformed to the image of Christ. I want you to shake us up. Lord, draw us more deeply into your presence and help me to faithfully and passionately obey you with all my heart!
