DAY SEVEN of 50-Day Spiritual Journey

But not only have we been purchased by the precious blood of Jesus, but we have also been forgiven.

Read the following passages:

Ephesians 1:7, Colossians 2:13-14, and 1 John 2:12

Jesus has totally wiped out every single one of our sins—past, present, and future. What a wonderful truth to let sink into your soul. You’ve been forgiven. There is no guilt on your record any more.

Which brings us to the third truth in relationship to our identity in Christ.  We have also been declared righteous on account of Christ’s perfect record.

Read Romans 3: 23-25, 8:30-33, and Titus 3:4-7

No one—not even Satan—can come and make an accusation against us that will stick. We are no longer under condemnation but have been justified or counted righteous on account of Christ.  The moment we placed our faith in Jesus, our guilty record of sin was transferred or credited to Him and then His perfect record of obedience was credited to us as if we had fully and totally lived a perfect life of righteousness.  God looks at our lives and because He sees the record of Christ, He can make this wonderful declaration “NOT GUILTY!”

Meditate on the words of one of the hymns we sing in church and let this be your prayer to Jesus:

Before the throne of God above
I have a strong and perfect plea.
A great high Priest whose Name is Love
Who ever lives and pleads for me.
My name is graven on His hands,
My name is written on His heart.
I know that while in Heaven He stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart.

When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within,
Upward I look and see Him there
Who made an end of all my sin.
Because the sinless Savior died
My sinful soul is counted free.
For God the just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me.

Behold Him there the risen Lamb,
My perfect spotless righteousness,
The great unchangeable I AM,
The King of glory and of grace,
One in Himself I cannot die.
My soul is purchased by His blood,
My life is hid with Christ on high,
With Christ my Savior and my God!

Amen!
